Description
An exceedingly scarce and elusive original vintage aquatint (only examples found online were reproductions). Two officers in full uniform with rifle and bayonet (full title – York Light Infantry Volunteers, A Serjeant in Morning Parade Dress, A Private on Duty). From Charles Hamilton Smith's "Costume of the Army of the British Empire, according to the Last Regulations," a record of how Wellington's troops were uniformed and equipped. Published 1813 by Colnaghi & Company. Clean with very faint, half-dollar size lightened area at top. Image size: 6.5 x 10 (10 x 14 paper).
