[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate tintype of Captain George Foreman, Charlotte, Michigan. Â
Sixth plate hand-gilt tintype. (Some darkening at perimeter.) Housed in full pressed paper case with floral design (heavy wear to velvet pad). Later ink inscription behind plate identifies the subject as "Capt. Geo. Foreman of Charlotte, Mich. in Civil War."
A full-length standing portrait of an officer, tentatively identified as Capt. George Foreman. A man by that name was drafted in 1863 from the 6th Congressional District in Michigan. In this document, he is listed as 31-year-old shoemaker from Michigan. it is unknown what regiment he ultimate became a part of as no George Foreman served in a Michigan regiment. Â
