Japanese red lacquer stacking food box with mother-of-pearl inlay, c. 19th century. Allover decorated with applied cherry blossom branches with mother-of-pearl blossoms and buds, and a mother-of-pearl bird. Consists of four boxes and a top lid. Size: 7 1/2" H x 4 1/2" W x 4 1/2" (stacked) Condition: Generally good condition; losses to lacquer on edges of top and on box rims, and small areas of branches.
