Item Details
Description
**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1077 BCE. An interesting gathering of 3 petite scarab pendants, 2 carved from steatite and 1 mold-formed from faience, and each with a lengthwise suspension hole through the body. The green-glazed faience scarab features the cartouche of Thutmose III (ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE) with two feathers of Ma'at flanking the scarab hieroglyph. Second is a beige-hued steatite scarab with a bottom featuring a pair of heart-and-windpipe hieroglyphs, two ankhs, and a central djed pillar. The underside of the largest steatite scarab depicts a hunting scene with two figures - one brandishing a bow - beside a pair of downed, long-horned ibexes. Size of largest: 0.65" L x 0.5" W (1.7 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s

Condition
Both steatite scarabs have chips to lower peripheries, light encrustations, and softening to some incised details on undersides; faience scarab is intact and very good. Nice preservation to overall forms, and great remains of green glaze on faience scarab.
