Description
Designed and patented by Julius Roever and manufactured by the American Phonograph Co. of New York City circa 1912. Refinished wood cabinet with carved paw feet, pillar corners, carved wood arch top, and beveled glass front and sides in VG condition. Metal ID tag behind glass reads, Instrument Owned by the Multiphone Operating Co. Manufactured by the American Phonograph Co, New York City. A smaller round brass tag is stamped, 246A. The beautiful original mechanism plays 12 different cylinders from a rotating carousel. Sound is transmitted through an internal paper mache horn and exits through a copper plated cast metal lyre shaped grill at the top front of the cabinet. Plate on front of machine directs to Push Nickel in Slot, Select any Number, Wind Up Motor. Machine accessed through locked front and rear doors. Locked storage compartment on bottom of front. Measures 75.5" tall, 23" wide, 18.5" deep.
