Captain Thierry Mallet was the President of Maison Revillon Freres, an international furrier and luxury goods company operated a network of fur trading posts in the Canadian North and the main competitor of the Hudson Bay Company. Mallet known for several books about Canada and Madagascar, and for signing one of the first sponsorships in the world of cinema, that of the famous film Nanook of the North by Robert J. Flaherty. Thierry Mallet left his post as president of Revillon Freres NY in 1939. Posted on Madagascar as the USA Deputy Consul General until the end of the war, he managed the tobacco and oil companies, as well as the African Trade Co. In France, Thierry Mallet was a friend of Marlene Dietrich, Jean Gabin and Georges Carpentier. In the harsh world of the fur trade, he was nicknamed "Monsieur le Comte" because of his affable demeanor. During the 1914 war, he was wounded and became Captain Thierry Mallet. In 1923, his first work, Igloo Life appeared, followed by Plain Tales of the North, and 1930 Glimpses of the Barren Lands.
