Description
A Chinese carved jade buckle with deer and shou symbol, dating from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Carved in deep relief, with a solid border, the design features in center two deer, with shou symbol above, rounded out with small flower and natural forms. Carved in a complex way to create two layers of carving, to give the images depth. Provenance: collection of a private Maryland collector.
