The lining is synthetic with another canvas lined behind. There are several surface scratch marks, measuring between 1 inch and approximately 5 inches throughout painting, specifically around the bottom of painting and sitter’s head. There is an approximate 6-inch long line across tree, by the sitter’s shoulders. It looks like it was a previous canvas tear, which was repaired. There is another canvas repair at the top proper right area. There is no visible craquelure on the painting. Areas of surface paint loss visible around the face (specifically chin) and border of the painting (specifically bottom proper left corner). View additional photos for reference.
