Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1400 to 1533 CE. A fine collection of 4 stone tools and weapons that are hand-pecked and polished from dense stones. Two of the items are mace heads - one is in a pre-form star-shaped head that is bifacial with a scalloped perimeter to create 6 spikes. The center is undrilled, and the surface is roughly worked - but if completed, a hafting hole through the center would make this a deadly and impressive implement. The other mace head is a circular doughnut form, with a central hafting hole. The large cylindrical tool is likely a pestle grinder with a tapered tip and indented head. The final stone tool is an axe or hatchet blade, carved from a mottled stone with a slightly flared tips for securing to a handle, and a thick, rounded blade tip. Size (axe): 4" L x 4.5" W (10.2 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Drimmer collection, Florida, USA, before 1965
