A pair of Japanese Cloisonné wall plaques or chargers
probably late Meiji period
each depicting a warrior beside a blossom tree, reserved on turquoise grounds within formalised scrolling foliate borders, 46cm diameter (2)
Condition
General condition good commensurate with age, there is some minor spotting and matted corrosion to the extreme edges of the border of the rim, more to the one with the figure holding the bow, the surfaces of both with minor scratches, some minor cracking and spotting and with a few minute losses to the enamel, particularly to the areas of blossom where there are tiny gaps, there is a discoloured crack to the left of the figure in the fur robe and also some little losses to the tips of his hair, above his head there are some radial yellowish hairline cracks which are visible in the photographs, the rear borders of both chargers have extensive yellowing and dirt from nicotine which should be easy to clean off and this is also to the rear underside of the foot rims, the scrolling wire work to the rear with multiple tiny holes to the enamel and with scratches to the foot rims.
