Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery jar of a bulbous form that resembles a gourd. Presented in hues of red, orange, and white, the squat vessel features a slightly concave base, a circular body with 8 distinct lobes outlined by the orange and white linear motifs, and a squat rim that perhaps accommodated a lid at one time. Size: 7" W x 3.8" H (17.8 cm x 9.7 cm)

Condition
Chips to rim, with light abrasions and fading to pigment on body and base, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to pigment throughout, and nice manganese deposits beneath base. Old inventory label beneath base.
