Description
Hand sewn white stars and machine sewn red & white stripes. 12 hand-sewn white stars in blue canton. Flag, Confederate Secession or Exclusionary - 12 star, 13 stripes, Civil War period - The 12 stars represent the first 12 Confederate States, being the basic 11 that formed the Confederacy & Missouri which tried to secede and had a Confederate government, though short lived, in 1861. Missouri produced Confederate & Union regiments for the war. These early 'Secesh' flags were often cotton though this one is wool for use outdoors. This flag retained the original 13 stripes, representing the original 13 colonial states, but excluded the 23 Union states in the stars canton leaving 12. Size: 52" hoist x 70" W. Weight: 8 ounces.
