1875 Civil War Union Battles Bull Run Fort Sumter Wilsons Creek Glazier
“Battles for the Union” is a compilation of descriptions and anecdotes of major battles of the Civil War beginning with Fort Sumter, though Big Bethel, Bull Run, Wilsons Creek, Balls Bluff, Mill Spring, Pea Ridge, the naval engagement between the Monitor and the Merrimac, Newbern, Winchester, Falmouth Heights, and many more throughout the war, concluding with Waynesboro, Bentonville, Five Forks and the surrender.
Glazier was a member of the 2nd New York, rising to the rank of Lieutenant and was captured in October 1863, and held at the infamous Libby Prison. He escaped twice, and eventually joined the 26th New York and served until the end of the war.
This 1875 edition is illustrated with 9 engravings as well as an embossed front board and spine.
