Description
Maya Jaina Seated Priest Figure Classic Maya, Ca. 550 to 700 AD. Size 7 1/4 inches high. A solid pottery molded pottery court figure, wearing turban headgear, tunic, necklace and arm ornaments. Size: 6 inches H. Condition: Head repaired, missing ear, replace, chipped nose, feet, multiple limb breaks restored. Jaina Island, off the coast of Yucatan, was a cemetery for high-ranking nobles from the mainland. Restored from about dozen pieces. Provenance: The Judith Meister Collection, Highland Park, Chicago, Illinois, acquired between 1950s-1994; thence by decent.
