Description
Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery vessel of cylindrical form with thin walls that rest atop a trio of nubbin feet. The exterior of the vessel is adorned with several incised decorations including a repeating register of zigzagging blocks on the bottom, 3 panels with spiraling motifs and concentric archways in the middle, and a band of petite vertical grooves along the top. Some of the incised details are further embellished with applied cinnabar pigment which stands out against the russet-hued body. Size: 4.6" W x 5.875" H (11.7 cm x 14.9 cm)

Condition
Repair with restoration, resurfacing, and overpainting to area of rim. Abrasions and nicks to body and feet, with softening to some incised decorations, and light fading to pigment. Nice preservation to most incised decorations.
