Description
This mammoth of incredible NC early art pottery, circa 1930, likely was created by Waymon Cole at JB Cole Pottery. The glazing is stunning w/ rainbow of many hues, including the famed malachite. This type of pot was likely the centerpiece of multiple collections over the past century. Stands a monumental 22" by 12" w/ 2 vertical side handles that flow with the pot. Not signed, but they almost never were at that shop.
Condition
Overall fantastic condition w/ some flea bites (lead glaze in tiny spots flakes) and in the body to the left of one handle possibly is a within body 6-7" vertcal hairline (which can be barely observed, but when 'rings' the pot in that area there is tiny thump sound). UPDATE: the small vertical body crack 6-7" initiall assessed is fully stable, etc. & been confirmed by black light.
