A German close helmet, circa 1590
The skull forged in one piece, with a flat, roped comb. Decorative grooves running alongside the comb, the skull with double fullers on each side. The iron plume socket riveted at the nape. The pivoted, tapering visor with finely perforated breathing holes on both sides. Separate sight slits with prominent, angular flanges. Pivoted bevor, the face opening with a finely turned and roped flange. Lateral hook-and-eye closures. The gorget sliding on two lames, with three sets of double fullers and a turned and roped edge. Original lining rivets with the preserved leather cover. The surfaces stained and slightly filmed with rust in places. Height 37 cm.
The beautiful, untouched helmet in excellent condition. The surface can easily be improved with expert cleaning.
