Item Details

Description

A South German etched morion, circa 1590
One-piece hammered skull with high roped comb. Surrounding lining rivets with decorative brass rosette-shaped washers (incomplete). Pointed brim with roped and turned edge. The brim decorated with finely etched palmettes and scrolling leaves. The exterior with old burnishing. The interior with traces of original leather lining. On one side a small corrosion hole between the comb and the skull, the points of the brim damaged, small repair on the side of the brim. Height 30 cm.
