FOUR FUCHI-GASHIRA (HILT COLLARS AND POMMELS)
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century
The first shakudo nanako, gold, shibuichi and copper, with a raptor, sparrows, dandelions, and ferns; the second copper, gold, and shakudo, chiselled in high relief with a dragon and tiger among waves, signed Kimi banzai Naritoshi with a kao (Haynes 06957); the third half-shakudo and half-shibuichi nanako and gold, with deer and maples, with signature Hosono Sozaemon Masamori and a kao; the last iron and gold with dragons and clouds, signed Kitagawa Hidenori sei. (8).
