True to his reputation as an epic cheapskate, publisher Stanley Morse opted for a cut-and-paste cover composition rather than spending 25 bucks or so to commission a new illustration. The "brain bats" on the cover are taken from Basil Wolverton's "Nightmare World" which appeared in the preceding issue, and the woman in the foreground was drawn by Ed Robbins.
"Wolverton is such a great artist that his inclusion in a Gillmor comic is really rather jarring, like finishing a functional meal of hamburgers and fries with an order of chocolate mousse. There are elitist elements among esoteric comic collectors who feel that the only Gillmor comics worth reading are those with Wolverton art. I should not have to inform you that I do not share this opinion. However, Wolverton's great popularity has led to dramatic price increases for the 12 Gillmor comics which contain Wolverton stories." —George Suarez, Tales To Terrible To Tell #9. NEC: 1993, pp. 16-17.
