Legatura coeva francese parlante di mm. 123x78, vitellino color testa di moro, decorata con forme geometriche, filetti nastriformi dorati, con all’interno delle losanghe e delle valve intrecci, svolazzi, arabeschi e spirali, monogramma "GT", al centro ovale a secco con leggero rilievo, tagli dorati e cesellati. Pagine 576, [32]. Marca tipografica al Frontespizio, Iniziali e fregi xil., carattere italico e tondo. Illustrazioni in xilografia nei ‘Trionfi’.Opera in magnifica legatura rinascimentale, prodotta a Lione o a Parigi nella seconda metà del XVI secolo. Ricca decorazione nello stile di quella presente nelle legature di Jean Grolier e Tommaso Maioli. In particolare l’ovale al centro è motivo presente in alcune legature del Maioli, grande bibliofilo e collezionista, forse segretario della regina Caterina de Medici alla corte di Francia, che ideò e commissionò le più splendide legature del secolo, portando la legatura italiana al suo apogeo.Cfr. Small 8vo Contemporary French binding of mm. 123x78, dark brown calf, decorated with geometric shapes, golden ribbon-like threads, with interwoven lozenges and valves inside, flourishes, arabesques and spirals, monogram "GT", dry oval center with slight relief, golden cuts and chiseled. Pages 576, [32]. Typographic mark on the Frontispiece, Initials and xyl friezes, italic and round font. Woodcut illustrations in the 'Triumphs'.
Work in magnificent Renaissance binding, produced in Lyon or Paris in the second half of the 16th century. Rich decoration in the style of that present in the bindings of Jean Grolier and Tommaso Maioli. In particular, the oval in the center is a motif present in some bindings by Maioli, a great bibliophile and collector, perhaps secretary of Queen Catherine de Medici at the court of France, who conceived and commissioned the most splendid bindings of the century, bringing the Italian binding to his apogee.See Tea C.
