Two Derby ice cups by William Billingsley, circa 1790
Of footed bell shape with scrolled handles picked out in gold, painted below the rims with blue and gold drapery above a band of scrolling flowers and leaves, scattered rose sprigs below, 6.6cm high, crown, crossed batons, D marks and gilder's number 1 in puce, long-tailed 7 in red for William Billingsley, number 5 in blue (2)

These ice cups are faithful copies of a Sèvres example both in shape and pattern. Two further Derby examples are illustrated by John Twitchett, Derby Porcelain (2002), p.55.
