LBJ as VP! "I'll Be Working as Hard as I Can in the Days Ahead".
1p, 7" x 9”, July 5, 1962. TLS on official Vice President stationary, written to George McCullough, as Vice President of the United States. Boldly signed by the Vice President and future President "Lyndon B. Johnson." Accompanied by a copy of a University Archives invoice dated 7/26/96. The LBJ TLS sold for $500 at the time. Flattened folds from mailing, print line on the bottom left and an "X" on the top right corner.
The letter reads:
Dear Mr. McCullough:
Thank you so much for your very kind letter. I certainly do appreciate your thoughtfulness in sending me the clipping and in letting me know of your friendship and confidence. I'll be working as hard as I can in the days ahead to prove worthy of them.

Just over a year later after this letter was written, President John F. Kennedy would be assassinated and Lyndon B. Johnson would be President.
