壺銅胎，質地細密堅實，造形玲瓏，極為精巧。蓋面隆起，鏨刻瑞獸造形。小口，無頸，豐肩，鼓腹下收，下承三靈芝形足。肩兩側鑲嵌獸耳，口銜金環，威嚴霸氣。壺身施藍釉為地，四個如意形天藍釉開光，通體掐絲裝飾，前後開光內各有纏枝紋樣圍繞紅彩「壽」字，開光外飾纏枝蓮紋，線條簡潔優美，流暢大方。底足內藍彩雙方框「乾隆年製」雙行四字楷書款。
乾隆時期無論是對琺瑯色料燒造技術或銅礦進口均有一定程度的掌握，使此時期得以產造更為多彩的琺瑯作品。且在皇帝個人篤信藏傳佛教並延續明代宮廷使用掐絲琺瑯器作為奢侈品的時空脈絡下，西洋風格掐絲鑲嵌畫琺瑯與爐式用器燒造數量漸增，運用範圍亦擴及皇室生活的不同層面。今台北國立故宮博物院庋藏清〈掐絲琺瑯爐〉，其造形與本品相似，然與之相比，本件掌中賞玩之鼻煙壺袖珍小巧，掐絲工藝施展難度極高，更顯匠人的巧思精工，極為精彩。
掐絲琺瑯是在金、銅胎上以金絲或銅絲掐出圖案，填上各種顏色的琺瑯後經焙燒、研磨、鍍金等多道工序而成，有著五彩斑斕、華麗奪目的魅力。在乾隆皇帝多寶格、百什件及配匣等不同收儲形式中，掐絲琺瑯也成為內府製作賞玩器的選項之一。今台北國立故宮博物院庋藏貯於清乾隆〈紫檀嵌彩瓷博古圖小櫃〉百什件中，清乾隆〈金屬胎掐絲琺瑯與畫琺瑯西洋人物雙耳鼻煙壺〉，雙鋪首銜耳及圓瓶式造形，與本品極為類似，可資參考。唯本品三靈芝形足與尺寸更為小巧的技法，略勝一籌。另保利藝術博物館庋藏清乾隆〈銅胎掐絲琺瑯靈芝圖三足式鼻煙壺〉，可為本品之類似作品參考。
