Auguste and Antonin Daum (French, 1853-1909 and 1864-1930 respectively). Incised art glass vessel, ca. 1930. Signature on underside. A striking and quite sizeable art glass vessel by Daum Nancy. The thick glass presents an attractive blue-green tone and is acid etched to create a mesmerizing relief against a rippled texture background. The imagery is comprised of two visages on the body of the vessel and eight raised squares adorning the shoulder of the vessel. The vase's piriform body corsets at the shoulder, resolves in a smooth rim, and sits upon a flat base. A truly stunning example of Daum Nancy art glass! Daum Nancy glass was created by the brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum who took over their father's glass factory in Nancy, France during the 1870s. Until the 1890s, the Daum factory made watch crystals and utilitarian glassware; however, the brothers decided to create art glass from the 1890s through the early 20th century, and following World War I, Daum Nancy transitioned from Art Nouveau to Art Deco designs.

Signature on underside. Foot was probably once drilled through to create a lamp, but this opening has since been filled with a glass plug. Chips to the base and a few minor scuffs and chips/nicks to high-pointed areas, but otherwise very nice.
