Two 18th C. American documents: Reward of Merit, manuscript document, handwritten in ink on paper: "PHEBE BOLLEN /MORRIS TOWN JULY 6TH 1778. /GEO. MAVINGS. C.M.S.", with decorative borders including a moon with a face and the head of a bird, matted with plastic cover, wear consistent with age including toning, original creases, some foxing, sold as is, 6 ½" h. x 8" w.; and a manuscript memorandum, American, 18th C., ink on paper, "Memorandum /At a vestry held at the house of William Ward /In Gilford [sic] /September 4th 1744, Nathaniel Johnson and William Ward /were appointment Church Wardens for the year /ensuing, and Samuel Collins appointed /Clerk /It was likewise agreed upon that they /Professors of the Church of England meet in order / to carry on meetings by reading a form of Prayers and Sermons by themselves / James Lyons minister, Nathael. Johnston /William Ward /Church Wardens", note verso reads "Oldest Record of Christ Church, Guilford, CT 1744", wear consistent with age including toning, original creases, foxing, hinged at top to board, sold as is, 7 ½" h. x 10 ¼" w.
