Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Sikyatki, Hopi culture, ca. 15th to 17th century CE. A hand-built hemispherical bowl featuring a round, but stable base and a broad interior basin with an abstract motif of a toad or frog. The outer rim contains a nearly solid encircling band that has a gap at one end, and the interior center is painted with a circle around pairs of lines set at right angles from each other, and a sun or star motif consisting of zigzagging lines. All surrounding an abstract amphibian outlined in black with slender limbs and a red body. Size: 8.75" Diameter x 3.5" H (22.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
