Description
Following his arrest in Austria and a brief detention, former Reichsminister Hermann Goring was flown to Luxembourg on May 20, 1945 for interrogation at 'Camp Ashcan', the secret facility lodged at the Palace Hotel of Mondorf-les-Bains. Offered here are six original photographs of Goring at the airport in Munich moments before his flight to Luxembourg. Four of the images are 2 x 3 in. and mounted to a sheet, the remaining two photographs are 4 x 6 in. and captioned by hand on the verso. The portly Goring is dressed in a white trench coat and carries a cane, and is still wearing his official Reichsmarshal's insignia. Very good. Sold with an unrelated copy of Pathfinder news magazine, Jan. 23, 1946, showing a much-thinner Goring seated and eating from a tin mess bowl, the photo captioned: 'GOERING. HE FACES DEATH'
