Description
Passport issued to Austrian 'Fritz Behal', bearing a large, red 'J' on the first page. The 'reisepass' was issued to the 53-year-old Behal in Vienna on Sept. 19, 1938, still bears his identification photograph, and also bears his particulars on the adjoining page. The eighth page bears a Nov. 22, 1938 stamp from the Dover immigration office, permitting him to stay in Dover for a period of one month. On the following page, a stamp from the Viennese Consulate grants him a three-month stay in England, while an inscription just beneath indicates he is permitted to sail for Australia from Liverpool on December 2, 1938. Page 10 bears an immigration stamp from Halifax, Canada dated Dec. 10, 1938, admitting him into the country as a non-immigrant for just two weeks. His journey ended on Jan. 14, 1939, as indicated by a later customs stamp from Sydney, Australia. Fine condition.
