Description
**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, China, probably Longquan, Song Dynasty, ca. 1127 to 1279 CE. A simple and beautiful ceramic bowl produced by Chinese Imperial state-owned and operated kilns. Enveloped in a lustrous powder blue glaze, the vessel sits upon a narrow, circular foot as its smooth walls gently span outwards to a hemispherical body and a flared rim. A textured interior, decorated with lightly incised, swirling patterns of abstract floral motifs, and a smooth exterior give this bowl a modern appearance despite the fact that this is an ancient work. Only the underside of the foot is left unglazed. Size: 8.5" Diameter x 3.6" H (21.6 cm x 9.1 cm)
Provenance: private Friday Harbor, Washington, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
