Description
Likely English set of ten carved mahogany dining chairs in the George III Chippendale taste, late 19th to early 20th century, comprising two armchairs and six side chairs, each having a curved crest, pierced foliate splat, red leather upholstery with nailhead trim, and rising on front cabriole legs with webbed claw and ball feet, apparently unmarked. Provenance: From the Private Collection of Byron Harris. Approx. h. 42”, w. 26.75”, d. 27”; seat h. 19” (armchair); h. 37.25”, w. 21.75”, d. 21.5”; seat h. 19.5” (side chair).
Condition
One armchair with small loss at lower edge of splat, some oxidation to nailhead trim, some wear, scuffs, scratches to leather, wear to feet typical of use, frames are structurally sound.
