WOW! This is an awesome piece of modern era railroading history. This Great Seal of the United States was one of ten such sealed produced to adorn the side of Santa Fe's Bicentennial SD45-2 diesel locomotives during 1976. There were five locomotives painted in this special Bicentennial paint and all with the exception of one lasted in that paint for less than two years before being returned to their normal Santa Fe paint. This herald measures a whopping 60" in diameter and has the words, " Right Top 5703" stenciled on the reverse side. The sign does have adhesive residue on the reverse side. The seal itself is in great condition for the age, with only minor discoloration and a few small areas of light staining. This would make an outstanding addition to any railroad collection.
