Rarity-1 (100 or more Known) according to Fred Reed. An affordable yet pleasing example of this Emergency Civil War Era Currency. The natural golden-chestnut toned case is smooth and has sharp legends that are completely defect-free. The reverse die state shows a slight break below AYER'S as the die was worn and slightly cracking. The 3 red George Washington 1861 U.S. postage stamp has good color with light tone seen on the forehead where there is a small piece of mica lacking with some tiny spots under the clear mica laminations. Overall, a decent and very collectable example of this more common and affordable Massachusetts merchant major "AYER'S" type. Their advertised product, "Ayer's Sarsaparilla to Purify the Blood".
