a waist-length image of Sgt. John Devereux Primrose (1844-1874) seated in a chair, wearing his double-breasted coat/jacket, backstamped for Watson's Photographic, Fine Art, Gallery, Raleigh, NC. Circa 1862. 4" x 2 3/8".
Provenance: From the Eddie Tatum estate collection, Winston-Salem, NC.
Catalog Note: John Primrose was born in Raleigh, NC. He enlisted as an 18-year old private in Co. E, 24th Reg., North Carolina Infantry. By June of 1863 he had been promoted to Ordnance Sergeant.
