One of the 200 numbered copies on Vélin d'Arces (full edition: 220). - Chas Laborde (1886-1941) was born in Buenos Aires. The child of French parents studied in Paris and was a pupil of was a pupil of Henri Royer and Marcel Baschet at the Académie Julian, and of William Bouguereau and Luc-Olivier Merson at the École des Beaux-Arts. His artistic work, which borrowed from caricature and satire, was particularly influenced by George Grosz and Jules Pascin. He also appeared as an illustrator of books. His caricaturistic and socially critical observation extended from London to New York to Paris and Moscow, all of which were published under the title "Rue et Visages". and for whose publication important authors such as Pierre Mac Orlan, Jean Giradoux and Paul Morand wrote the texts. The atmospherically coloured panels show, among other things, the people of Wall Street, the Jewish and Italian quarters, Coney Island, circus, bar and boxing events, and revelry on Broadway. - Loose in original blue card portfolio backed in white vellum with paper title label to upper and original ties (spine slightly rubbed). - Uncut. Original titled tissue guards partly with small marginal tears. A few pages foxed or slightly browned (plates just slightly affected). - With beautiful plates in fresh condition.

Das Kind französischer Eltern studierte in Paris und war Schüler von Henri Royer und Marcel Baschet an der Académie Julian, sowie von William Bouguereau und Luc-Olivier Merson an der École des Beaux-Arts. Seine künstlerische Arbeitn die in der Karikatur und Satire Anleihen fand stand besonders unter dem Einfluss von George Grosz und Jules Pascin. Darüber hinaus trat der als Illustrator von Büchern in Erscheinung. Seine karikaturistische und sozialkritische Observation erstreckte sich von London, über New York nach Paris und Moskau, die alle unter dem Titlel "Rue et Visages" erschienen und für deren Publikation bedeutende Autoren wie Pierre Mac Orlan, Jean Giradoux und Paul Morand die Texte verfassten. Die stimmungsvoll kolorierten Tafeln zeigen u.a. die Menschen der Wall Street, das jüdische und italienische Viertel, Coney Island, Zirkus, Bar und Boxveranstaltungen, sowie Vergnügen im Broadway. Unbeschnitten. OSeidenhemdchen z.T. mit minimalen Randläsuren. Vereinzelte Seiten etwas stockfleckig bzw. leicht gebräunt (Tafeln nur minimal betroffen). - Mit schönen Tafeln in frischem Zustand.
