With autograph letter from Ambrose Bierce affixed to front pastedown, signed A.G.B., to "Dear Haxton" (H.R. Haxton, apparently), dated Angwin, Jan. 4, 1892, presenting an earlier book ("This book is not published, it awaits the London edition... so don't 'give it away'..."). The paper on which the letter is written is a bit darkened, creased. Second issue with lines 5-6 on p. 71 corrected, now reading: "Walk in. But I must tell you this:/ "We've nothing better here than bliss." BAL 1122. With bookplate of Aurelia Henry Reinhardt (1877-1948), American educator, activist, and longtime president of Mills College.
