Signed check, drawn on The Royal Bank of Scotland for a payment of 100 pounds and made out to "A A Halliday". 5" x 3", dated January 31, 1899. Check number 316. The check is boldly signed by Carnegie as "Andrew Carnegie." Just below the signature, Carnegie adds that the check was "Endorsed in front of" two individuals. Cut from a letter written to Halliday, in fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, filled out in Carnegie's hand.
Andrew Carnegie checks are non-extant, with this piece as close to a signed check as one will find for the business magnate.
