1p onionskin, measuring 8" x 10.5", Birmingham, dated July 14, 1932. Signed "M.H. Purvis" as Special Agent in Charge. A memorandum enclosing a letter from the Director, J. Edgar Hoover

In part: 

"I am enclosing herewith a copy of the latest issue of 'The Investigator', a publication prepared at the Seat of Government under the auspices of the Bureau's Athletic Association. The Athletic Association has been in existence for about six months. A basketball team representing the Bureau was successful in winning the Championship of the Government Basketball League, Bicentennial Season, during the winder. A baseball team has been entered in the Governmental League for this Summer. Also, the Bureau has a tennis team in the Government League for the first time. These athletic activities have been very helpful in fostering cooperation between the various units of the Bureau at Washington and the officials of the Bureau have encourages the activities in every possible manner..." With two holes punched at the top margin and a small amount of paper loss at the top edge. Light creasing. Boldly signed. 

Purvis joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1927 and soon was placed in charge of the Division of Investigation offices in Birmingham, Oklahoma City, and Cincinnati. Hoover then placed Purvis as the head of the Chicago office in 1932.
