Double autographed carte-de visite of Brigadier General Robert Anderson (1805-1871) United States Army officer and commander of Fort Sumter at the beginning of the American Civil War. Carte de visite showing bust view of Anderson wearing uniform and overcoat. Carte is signed on obverse below image "Respectfully Yr. Obt. Servant, Robert Anderson, Brig Gen. U.S.A.". Reverse of carte features autographed ink inscription "Miss E. C. Hooker with the very kind regards of, Robert Anderson, Aug 6/64". Carte presents backmark of R.A. Lewis, 152 Chatham Street, New York. Tones of image are extremely strong with manuscript ink being dark. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
