Description
South America, Argentina, Paraguay, or Uruguay, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A large nickel-silver rastra medallion with a Milagro heart motif and a stamped hallmark "H.M." for an unknown maker. The verso of the rondel contains 6 loops for securing the elongating links with discs attached to the tips. This elaborate ornament would have adorned a gaucho's belt - the heart a centerpiece with the 6 radiating discs serving as buttons on the leather belt straps. Size: 8.75" L x 3.5" W (22.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
