Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery bottle carried by warriors and hunters for storing fast-acting poison into which their arrows were dipped. The obverse features an incised glyph of a left-facing human visage, perhaps depicting a god or perhaps a stylized portrait of the bottle's owner. Size: 3.7" W x 4.1" H (9.4 cm x 10.4 cm)

Abrasions and nicks commensurate with age, with softening to incised glyph, and fading and fire-darkening to pigment in scattered areas, otherwise intact and very good. Nice form.
