Description
Early Rare Boggs Family Alabama Cream Riser This is a outstanding rare and early form from Alabama. This piece is attributed to the Boggs family ( Also strong roots in Alamance County North Carolina ) and has strong outstanding eye appeal. The cream riser is traditionally found in North Carolina and seldom seen in North Georgia, anymore south or west and they are not present for unknown reasons. The cream riser has a lime glaze with two lug lifter handles and a pouring spout. Heavy kiln oxidation film is present on the side of the cream riser. This is a highly sought after form especially from Alabama and is in great condition for being a utilitarian stoneware example. Condition is outstanding with no chips or repairs, it has two very tight stress lines, note Not hairlines. I would tend to truly call the crazing lines more than anything. The cream riser rings true and is a southern masterpiece in its own right in southern stoneware. One of the best forms from Alabama we have offered at Cagle Auction. Fine fresh example standing 8 1/2" Tall x 10 1/2"
