STAMPED "J. M. HICKERSON / STRASBURG VA.", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE PAN, salt-glazed, "1" gallon capacity mark, low, slightly tapering cylindrical form with square rim and applied curved small tab handles. Brushed cobalt horizontal eight-petal scrolling floral decoration on each side. Stamp applied upside down. The pottery of James M. Hickerson (1833-1902), Strasburg, VA. 1875-1890. 6 1/2" H, 9 1/8" D rim.
