Description
1859 CALIFORNIA Kidder PROVENANCE Voyages Elisha Kane Fremont Matthew Perry

Samuel Smucker was a notable 19th-century historian who published a variety of biographical works on American and exploration! One of his most notable subjects was Elisha Kent Kane and his arctic explorations. Kanes explorations have been some of the most popular stories of adventure since the 19th-century and Smuckers account was certainly a contributing factor to this. This book contains descriptions of Kanes experiences in Mexico as well as his voyages in Baffin Bay, and of course the Second Grinnell Expedition.

Other notable contents found in this work include descriptions of the voyages of other important explorers such as John C Fremont, John Ledyard, Charles Wilkes, and Matthew Perry.
