Description

A late George III silver christening mug, of slightly tapered cylindrical form with reeded detail and engraved monogram, having a leap capped handle, hallmarked Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard I, London 1817. Together with a similar, smaller example, hallmarked London 1812. Height of largest example 3.25" (8.2cm), overall weight 7.78 ozt (242 grams).

Condition Report:

Items show general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.

Rim of both items appears misshapen.

Larger example shows areas of dark tarnishing through out.

Reeded decoration shows dirt within, and leaf decoration shows dirt and polish residue through out.

Larger example shows deeper surface nicks and dents.

Smaller example displays some notable bashes and dents.

Smaller example has very rubbed and obscured maker's mark.
