Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, Neolithic period, ca. 4500 to 500 BCE. A collection of 3 pecked and polished stone adze or axe tools, each with a rectangular shape from a hornstone or chert in warm brown and beige hues. The surfaces are heavily polished and smooth to the touch from ancient use and patina. The widest stone has been retouched and polished in modern times on the cutting edge and faces. Size: 4" L x 2" W (10.2 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: private Friday Harbor, Washington, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
