A simply adorable original Victorian beige wool, 2 piece girls graduation dress, circa 1884, machine and hand stitched. Bodice adorned with vertical pin tucks, grosgrain bows, small lace machine schiffli collar and lace trim down front opening and around bottom of bodice. Pigeon front, with white china button closure at center front. Gathered tiered wool ruffles with wide schiffli lace and grosgrain bows accenting the full length of skirt.
Recently deaccession from the Strong Museum in Rochester, N.Y. Still retaining its identification catalog museum fabric tag sewn into neck line and waist band on skirt. Also Museum paper work report and details.

CONDITION

In very good clean sound sturdy condition, with many flaws, small pin size insect spots in bodice. Bodice has been altered at sleeve opening and sleeve was removed and a satin binding was sewn in. Missing grosgrain bow at back. Light underarm discoloration. Skirt is in very good condition with no flaws.
