Description
The 1880s crazy quilt is all hand pieced together with wonderful hand embroidered stitch embellishments, cotton raised flowers to give dimension and lift, and lovely assortment of animals, people, flowers and leaves. It is so busy. A masterpiece of Victorian embroidery and floral raised work.
This turn of the century crazy quilt reminds me of a Picasso abstract painting. This crazy quilt is a wonderful sewn together work of art. The quilter put a lot of thought into the selections of materials to give the quilt a great visual look.
This quilt has a mixture of fabrics, mostly wool, brocades and paisley. The backing is a tied deep red woven worsted. A vast array of different connecting cotton stitches in colors of the rainbow.
CONDITION
Good condition. Some rips and holes on the quilts triple layer border, very few small holes on interior of quilt in its blocks, no stains, one long fade streak on backing and still vibrant. Some stitch loss on border layers.
