1812-Dated First Edition Imprint titled, "A Sermon Delivered August 20, 1812; The Day 'Of Publick Humiliation and Prayer', Appointed by the National Government, Who Had Declared War Against Great-Britain" by Nathaniel Thayer (1769-1840), Published in 1812 by Isaac Sturtevant at Worcester (MA), Gift Inscription Written "For Saml. J. Prescott," Choice Crisp Extremely Fine.
This exceptionally fresh, crisp and clean original imprint has 16 pages, Complete, measures 8.5" x 5.5" with bright uncut untrimmed pages as issued with substantial original press text embossing remaining within the paper. This copy being a Gift, having the brown ink inscription written at top right of the cover reading: "For Saml. J. Prescott". (As a young boy, Samuel J. Prescott, nephew to American Revolutionary War Colonel William Prescott (1726-1795) who Commanded the Patriot forces in the Battle of Bunker Hill, and whose 1798 memoirs praised William Prescott and chided Israel Putnam.) A rare historic and political War of 1812 imprint in exceptional quality.
