Description
A pair of Japanese porcelain vases. Late Meiji period, before 1912. Moon-flask body shape, footed base, small necks. The hand-painted body depicts Japanese officials on the recto side and flowers and on the verso side. Gilt ornametns and accents richly decorate the pieces. Hieroglyphical hallmark is on the bottom of both items. The vases come with black lacquered footed stands that are garnished with gilt hand-painted decor. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated. Collectible Oriental Japanese Porcelain Decor.
Dimensions: With Stand H 4 7/8 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition
Good antique condition. One stand has broken leg. One vase has broken top rim. Signs of age and wear. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
